16th FEB 2013: Ujjain Workshop

Workshop on “Preventing spread of Antibiotic Resistance and its Environmental consequences” was successfully conducted on 16th Feb 2013 at R. D. Gardi Medical College Ujjain (M.P.). There were a total of 35 participants from following departments: Pediatrics, Obstetrics & Gynecology, surgery, medicine, pharmacology, microbiology, community medicine and few guest participants. The objective of the workshop was to equip the participants with the research results in the field of antibiotic management, hygiene and environmental spread of antibiotics and resistant bacteria. This was done with the long term view of supporting the formation and implementation of locally relevant policies on rational use of antibiotics in India, thus retaining effectiveness of antibiotics

There were presentations on various topics by the technical experts, followed by group work activities and case presentations by the participants. Discussion sessions were very interactive as the house was opened for discussion for the participants who participated with full enthusiasm. They appreciated the concept of antibiotic stewardship network and promised to extend their full support to work hand in hand for supporting the cause.
